About The Tour

Welcome to Tour DaVita!

Every year, about 500 DaVita teammates, physicians, patients, family members, and friends of DaVita pedal their way across some 250 miles in a three-day cycling adventure. Each Tour DaVita takes place in a different part of the country, and it’s our way of helping bring quality health care to those in need while promoting a healthy lifestyle and having fun!

The 13th annual Tour DaVita will benefit Bridge of Life, a nonprofit organization working to strengthen health care globally through sustainable programs that prevent and treat chronic disease.

Ride Details

This year's Tour DaVita Route promises a unique adventure through Southern Pennsylvania and Amish country. Our “Moving Village” will make its way through Lebanon County and surrounding areas, past hundred-year-old farms and through some small towns with captivating historical sites and striking architecture.

General information about the Tour DaVita experience can be found in the Ride FAQ section. More specific details about the route, itineraries and campsites will be covered in our 2019 Travel Planner, coming later this summer.

Flight Planning

Arriving

You should arrive into the Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. We will offer shuttles from the airport to the first campground. See Shuttles To and From the Airport below for details.

Your return flight should also be out of Harrisburg. We will provide shuttles from the last campground to MDT that will leave camp between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. PLEASE NOTE: The first shuttle should arrive at the airport at approximately 5:30 a.m., so we do not advise booking a flight home that departs before 7 a.m.

Shipping your bike

This means you are NOT bringing your bike with you on a plane or in a car, but shipping it to and from the Tour.

If you'll be riding your own bike on the Tour, a stress-free option is to ship your bike in advance to our partner bike shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lancaster Velo can receive and assemble your bike before the Tour, and disassemble, box and ship it home at the end. Total cost for both services is $120.

Please note that it is also possible to only have them assemble your bike ($75), or only have them disassemble, box, and ship your bike ($65).

Before shipping your bike, call the shop directly (717-598-4101) and let them know you're a Tour DaVita rider; their staff will arrange receipt of your shipment and ask you to pay for their services by credit card over the phone.

Note: You must provide a pre‐paid shipping label if you are having your bike shipped after the ride. You can obtain a pre‐paid shipping label by going to your local UPS, or you can look into shipping it via BikeFlights (bikeflights.com). The bike shop does not assume any liability for the shipment of bikes; it’s recommended to review the damage liability policies of your chosen shipping provider.

IMPORTANT: Your bike must arrive at Lancaster Velo no later than Friday, September 13th, so that it can be assembled and ready for Backroads to collect in time for the Tour. The earlier they receive it, the better! Please be sure to clearly mark the outside of the box with your name and “Tour DaVita.” You are responsible for contacting Lancaster Velo to confirm that they have received your bike in the time frame described.

Bringing your own bike on the plane or by car

If you are bringing your bike in your CAR with you:

Please indicate this within your Tour registration details (Instructions here). Plan to park your car at Lebanon Valley Expo Center, our camp for the duration of the Tour.

If you are bringing your own bike on the PLANE with you:

Please let us know you’ve selected this option by updating your rider registration accordingly. Make sure you’re comfortable packing your bike into the bike box, then unpacking and assembling it on site. (A few bike mechanics will be on site to assist if you absolutely need it, but you’ll be expected to assemble your own bike by yourself.)
